Towards an Effective New Year Resolutions

By: Saleh Abdullah Alkhamyasi
It has become a habit for people to opt for identifying New Year resolutions. Although it is a good thing that one focuses his or her energy on a specific goal rather than randomly fly to different directions, planning is something that does not materializes unless it is coupled with an effective execution.

To make our resolutions become tangible realities let us revisit the following Words:
Dream:
It is very essential to have a dream that you keep consistently alive in your mind.   Stretch your imagination and nurture a dream that will present some challenging tasks for you to strive to achieve so that you enjoy the taste of your ultimate achievement. While you are nurturing your dreams keep these quotes in mind so that you reap the inspirational leverage and help you awaken the giant within you:

·         Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul; the blue prints of your ultimate achievements.” ~Napoleon Hill

·         “It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting……Before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams master the lessons we have learned as we have moved toward that dream. That’s the point at which most people give up…. [At this point] Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity” ~Paulo Coelho

·         Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined.” ~Thoreau

 Plan:

Planning is very important because it represents a road map for you to follow and reach your desired dreams and make them become tangible realities:
·         A goal without a plan is just a wish. ― Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry

·         By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail. ― Benjamin Franklin

·         Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all is a form of planning. ― Gloria Steinem

·         The future is already here – it's just not evenly distributed.― William Gibson

·         You can't plow a field simply by turning it over in your mind. ― Gordon B. Hinckley

Perseverance:
Once the plan is ready then it is time to put your mouth were your action is. You need to put your energy  to achieve the smart goals you have charted in your plan. Of course what is meant by SMART is that your goals ought to be specific, measurable, attainable and realistic and above all time bound.

It is only then that your perseverance will be channeled in a positive and fruitful way. The quotes below can be a drive force in moments of defeats and urge to surrender. It will keep you inspired and geared up for fulfilling your dreams and aspirations:

Focus:
While you are attempting to go after your dreams there will be some distractions. Make sure that you stay focus. Note how inspiring and thought provoking these quotes are:

·         You are what you think about all day long. Robert Schuller

·         You become what you think about.- Earl Nightingale

·         You can come to understand your purpose in life by slowing down and feeling your heart's desires.- Marcia Wieder

·         You can't depend on your judgment when your imagination is out of focus.- Mark Twain

·         You have to have your heart in the business and the business in your heart.- Thomas J. Watson

·         You must not only aim right, but draw the bow   with all your might. - Henry David Thoreau

Yes dream, plan, persevere and focus. They are not magic words but their impact will give you the feeling that yes I made it. It will boost your confidence to take your dreams to a wider horizon.  Until the next time go ahead and visualize your success after all as Napoleon Hill, stated in his valuable book Think and Grow Rich  whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
